Classroom Driver’s Ed.

This is a course in the fundamentals of driving skill, a basic understanding of the mechanics of the automobile, and the development of defensive driving attitudes. This course is offered to pupils who are near 16 years of age or will be 16 before the end of the semester. Minimum attendance is 30 clock hours.

In order to receive The instructional permit, the following criteria must be met:

1. Students must pay a $50 PDT fee during this course

2. Students must pass the State of Illinois written exam in class

3. Students must pass CDT and have a C or higher at time of written exam in order to receive instructional permit application.  Otherwise the student must wait until end of quarter to receive application.

4. Student must have missed 3 or less days at time of written exam in order to receive instructional permit application.  Otherwise the student must wait until end of quarter to receive application.

Attendance Requirements: Students may only miss 5 days of this course on the 6th absence they are removed from class and will have to re-enroll in class in the next quarter.

After the student recives their Instructional Permit application,  they must take it to the Sec. of State Driving Facility and bring with them their Social Security card and certified copy of their birth certificate.  At the facility the student will have to pass a vision exam and pay a $20 instructional permit fee.  ( do not confuse this fee with the PDT fee they are totally different fees)

 

Assignments:  This course is entirely interactive. The lessons are given through a series of visual presentations that are DVD.  There are quizzes and review sheets associated with these presenations.  The other part of the course is studied through the Illinois Rules of the Road book.
